October 16th, 17th and 18th, 2026
Friday and Saturday tours are in the evening and all MEET at the Chemung County Historical Society, 415 E. Water Street in downtown Elmira.

Parking is available in our lot, and nearby.
The walking route this year covers about ½ a mile. We suggest dressing in layers, wearing good walking shoes, and consider bringing a flashlight. We ask walkers to show up at the museum at least 15 minutes before their scheduled tour.
Sunday, October 18th tours take place in the afternoon and MEET at Woodlawn Cemetery’s Walnut Street Gate, 1200 Walnut Street, Elmira.
For safety, please park outside the cemetery on Walnut Street. Sunday’s tours feature the same Ghosts and stories, tours are accessible and offered for anyone who wants to walk in the daylight or needs extra time. Visitors will check in at the red CCHS tent upon arriving at Woodlawn to meet their guide. We ask that you plan to arrive ten minutes before your scheduled tour.
For the last tour on Sunday, we offer a special VIP option which includes extras. Thank you for supporting the work we do at the Chemung County Historical Society!
Tickets are required for all tours and are nonrefundable.
MORE DETAILS and WHAT TO EXPECT:
FRIDAY AND SATURDAY EVENING TOURS
CCHS is located at 415 East Water Street in Elmira. Check in to receive your bus ticket and, at the designated time, board the bus to the cemetery. Once there, guides from Friends of Woodlawn will assist you along the wooded pathways to hear actors share historic tales about the lives of this year’s ghosts. All bus riders must return by bus to the museum. Each tour lasts about an hour.
SUNDAY AFTERNOON tours
Woodlawn Cemetery’s Main gate is located at 1200 Walnut Street, Elmira. For safety, please park along Walnut Street OUTSIDE the gate. Pick up your ticket and meet your guide for the event at the red tent.

Where do I park?
Friday and Saturday tours:
Plenty of parking is available at the museum located at 415 East Water Street, Elmira. We’ve hired buses to transport you to and from the cemetery.
Sunday tours (ONLY):
Please park outside Woodlawn’s main gate at 1200 Walnut Street, Elmira, NY before checking in at the red tent.
Is the event wheelchair friendly?
Our museum is wheelchair accessible, however the buses are not. The Sunday tours accommodate anyone with chairs or walkers.
Can I bring my pet?
No, sorry, during the event, NO pets are allowed on the buses or in the cemetery.
Why can’t I drive to the cemetery for the event?
We have hired buses for Friday and Saturday tours to keep our visitors safe. If you want to drive to the cemetery for the event, please book a Sunday tour.
Are children invited to attend?
These are live theater performances and we expect visitors to be respectful. We ask parents to use their best judgement. Buses cannot accommodate child safety seats, so we ask anyone with tiny children to purchase tickets for Sunday tours.
Can I get a refund?
Sorry, no refunds are given. This event happens rain or shine.
How much are tickets?
$26.00 per regular tour. VIP tour is $50.00 and comes with extras.
